Mondeo drivers clock up more speeding fines than any other car owner, according to figures compiled using speed camera data.

The report, issued by car safety group Cumbria Safety Cameras, also revealed that Ford models make up three of the top five cars in which people are caught speeding.

However, the lists don't take into account that the Fords are Britain's best-selling models, and are therefore their drivers are statistically more likely to be caught breaking the law.

Cumbria Safety Cameras spokesman Steve Callaghan said that the highest proportion of people caught speeding came were middle-aged men and company car drivers aged 31-40.

'You would think more powerful marques would feature in the top 10, but they are marketed to a group of drivers who seem to be more responsible,' he said.
