Peugeot has added a new 90bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine to its 1007 range.
The new engine provides a welcome extra 15bhp over the current 1.4 petrol unit, and so powers the 1007 from 0 to 62mph in 13.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 107mph.
Fuel economy suffers only slightly, with the car achieving 44.1 mpg on the combined cycle, compared with 45.5 for the existing car.
The engine was previously fitted to the 206 Sport model, but is now available only in the 1007 Sport model at a cost of £11,850.
