Citroen's C3 supermini now comes with a 1.6 110bhp diesel engine.
Available only in the top-of-the range VTR model, the engine provides 181lb.ft of pulling power and drives the C3 to a top speed of 118mph, but can still achieve 63mpg on the combined cycle.
The unit is the same refined engine that’s found in the C4 small family car and Xsara Picasso MPV.
The 1.6 HDi 110bhp VTR costs £11,795, including Citroen’s cashback offer, but further discounts should be available if you haggle with the dealer.
Also joining the C3 line up at the end of the year is 1.6i SX Auto, which will replace the 1.4i version.
The entire C3 range has been tweaked to include upgraded suspension; a stiffened body shell and all models come with front airbags, anti-lock brakes, power steering and a CD player. Prices start at £6995 for the 1.1i L.
