If you think it looks like a Morgan Aero-8, that's because the LifeCar – a prototype fuel cell sport car – is based on one.

Developed with the aid of funding from the Department of Trade and Industry, the LifeCar has electric motors in each wheel which are powered by a fuel cell.

The LifeCar also features regenerative braking technology, ultra-capacitors to release energy for bursts of acceleration, and relatively low construction costs.

As a result, it provides the basis for a zero-emissions car that has a range of 200 miles between stops for hydrogen.

The LifeCar is only a prototype at present, but it has been designed in the hope of promoting British fuel cell technology to a global audience.
