Fuel companies are being accused of ripping off motorists by failing to pass on the falling cost of oil.

While the average price of fuel has risen during January, the price of a barrel of crude oil has fallen by 7% to around $90.

'It's outrageous that instead of actually passing these savings to their customers, they're doing the exact opposite and raising their prices,' said a spokesman for fuel watchdog petrolprices.com. 'Motorists are getting a raw deal.'
