Multi-group child seats tested - Graco Junior Mini

09 February 2009
Graco Junior Mini
RRP: £119.99
Groups: 0+/1 (from birth to 18kg)

Features
Like the Britax Eclipse, you can use this seat rearward or forward facing as a group 0+ or 1 design. There is some cushioning for when the Junior is being used for newborns, plus four different harness heights with easy adjustment.

Ease of operation
You'll need a long seatbelt and lots of patience to fit this seat, forwards or backwards facing. There are tricky routing guides, which are difficult to access in the rearward layout, rattling seatbelt clasps and it's difficult to get decent tension whichever way the seat's facing. The limited amount of padding for newborns continually flops forward making removing your baby a three-handed task. The recline mechanism is also difficult to use.

Buying
It is cheaper than the Britax, whether you're looking at the recommended retail price or online, but not as good value for money.

Quality
The newborn insert section feels cheap in relation to the rest of the seat, which seems to be built from decent-quality materials and plastics.
