The Alfa Romeo Giulietta small family car is now available with a new 140bhp 2.0-litre diesel.

The new option slots in between the existing 105bhp 1.6-litre and 170bhp 2.0-litre, and costs from £20,750 in Lusso trim. The engine is also available in Veloce specification for £22,050.

With up to 258lb ft of torque, the engine is powerful enough to bring the Giulietta from 0-62mph in 9.0 seconds and on to a top speed of 127mph.

Official fuel consumption is 62.8mpg, while emissions of 119g/k mean it is in the lowest 13% company car tax band for diesels.
