The Daihatsu Materia mini-MPV will go on sale here in July from £10,995.
The 100bhp 1.5-litre petrol-engined car was first seen at the Paris Motor Show last September. It is already on sale in Japan and America and is being pitched against the similarly sized Renault Modus and Vauxhall Meriva. It comes with the option of a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox.
Power steering, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, air-conditioning, central locking, alloy wheels, front foglamps, a radio and CD player and driver, passenger and side airbags come as standard.
The manual Materia costs £10,995 and the automatic version £11,795. The only factory option is metallic paint, at £325.
