This is what Mitsubishi calls a 'development concept' of the next Evo, its rally-style performance car. Don't be fooled with the concept tag, though - this is pretty much the real deal.
We've seen similar concept cars for a while now, the latest in January at the Detroit motor show. However, apart from the possibility of some very minor exterior styling tweaks, the picture shown here is what we will see when the car is officially launched at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
The car will go on sale here in March next year and will feature a new traction and handling system that Mitsubishi calls S-AWC2. It will also have a new lightweight 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and six-speed semi-automatic gearbox.
Our reviews are based on hard data and thorough testing in the real world.
