New Grand Cherokee S Limited revealed

20 June 2012

  • New Grand Cherokee S Limited model
  • Due in late 2012, from around £40,000
  • Limited-edition Compass model also planned

Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited

Jeep will introduce a sporty new Limited version of its Grand Cherokee 4x4 before the end of the year.

Based on the design study of the same name that was shown at the 2012 Geneva motor show, it features a black front grille, black body trim and 20-inch gloss black alloy wheels.

The makeover continues on the inside, where you get carbonfibre trim and leather and suede sports seats from the V8-powered SRT8 model.

However, the only engine option will be the 237bhp 3.0-litre diesel that's available in other Grand Cherokee models.

Pricing is still to be confirmed, but Jeep says the S Limited will be slightly cheaper than the Grand Cherokee Overland, which costs £44,995. The new model will be a rival for sportier versions of cars such as the BMW X5 and Mercedes M-Class.

Jeep is also preparing a limited edition version of its Compass model, called the Compass Black Edition. Like the S Limited, this features a black grille, black exterior detailing and black wheels, while the engine is Jeep's 161bhp 2.2-litre diesel.
