Honda will unveil the next-generation Jazz at the Toyko motor show next month - but UK buyers will have to wait until January 2009 before they can buy it.
The car is a mild evolution of the current model, with insiders admitting that Honda is reluctant to radically change the styling of its best-selling small car.
In the past five years, more than 135,000 Jazz cars have been sold in the UK.
The engine line-up has not been confirmed, although the Japanese market is getting 1.3 and 1.5-litre units, which may replace the existing 1.2 and 1.4-litre motors here. A small-capacity diesel option is also likely.
The Tokyo motor show begins on October 26.
