New Hyundai i10 prices announced

The new Hyundai i10 will start at the same price as the old car when it arrives in showrooms in January - £8345 - and will still undercut rivals like the Volkswagen Up.
The new five-door city car’s line-up will start with S trim, equipped with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 65bhp and emitting 108g/km of CO2. Standard equipment includes central locking, electric front windows, CD player with a USB connection, six airbags and Isofix points. The base price of £8345 rises to £8995 if you opt for the ’S Air’ edition that also includes air-conditioning.
Those prices look fairly aggressive compared with the Up - a car that Hyundai has openly stated it is targeting with the latest i10. The cheapest five-door version of the baby VW costs £8560, and the cheapest edition with air-conditioning, the ‘Move Up’, costs £9710 in five-door trim - or more than £700 more expensive than the Hyundai.
Moving up to the i10’s SE trim brings air-con as standard, plus remote central locking, electric rear windows, electric heated door mirrors and driver’s seat height adjustment. It also opens up further engine options; you can have the same 1.0-litre unit as the base model, now from £9295, or switch to the 86bhp 1.2-litre four-cylinder unit, which emits 114g/km of CO2 and costs £9795. It’s also available with an automatic gearbox, from £10,495.
The range-topping i10 spec is called Premium. It adds alloy wheels, Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition, steering wheel-mounted stereo controls, front fog lights, rear speakers, door mirror indicators, side body mouldings and leather steering wheel. It costs £9995 with the 1.0-litre engine - or more than £1200 less than a five-door High Up - and £10,495 with the 1.2 litre.
The i10’s options list will include different alloy wheels, a Connectivity Pack, a Winter Pack (heated steering wheel and heated front seats) and a Driver Assist Pack that brings rear parking sensors and cruise control with a speed limiter.
All models get five seats - apart from the eco-focused, four-seat Blue Drive edition (SE trim only), which gets stop-start to help bring its 1.0-litre engine’s CO2 emissions down to 98g/km.
The new Hyundai i10 is available from January 30 2014.
