The new Mazda 5 MPV will be launched at the Geneva motor show on March 2.
Mazda's revamped 5 will get rear sliding doors, seven seats and a stylish new body design.
Efficient and stylish
The car's shape, which is influenced by Mazda's 'Nagare Flow' design language, isn't just eye-catching; it also helps reduce drag and improve fuel efficiency.
The 5 is fitted with a new 2.0-litre diesel engine and six-speed manual transmission, so the 5 should be fun to drive, as well as more efficient – emissions are 15% lower than the outgoing 2.0-litre unit.
The improved efficiency is partly thanks to Mazda's i-stop technology, which turns off the engine at idle and restarts it when the driver presses the clutch pedal.
Buyers will also be offered a 1.8-litre petrol engine, also with a six-speed manual transmission, when the Mazda 5 goes on sale in Europe later this year.
Mazda at the Geneva motor show
The revamped 5 will form part of a trio of Mazda premieres at the Geneva motor show in March. Alongside the MPV will be a face-lifted version of the award-winning 6 family car and a special-edition MX-5 celebrating the car's 20th anniversary.
