New Mazda majors on kit

12 May 2009

Mazda has announced full details of its new 3 small family car.

The 20-model range goes on sale on May 18, with prices starting at £13,500. That gets you the entry-level 1.6 5dr model, which has a 104bhp petrol engine. Standard kit includes air-conditioning, six airbags and stability control.

Moving up to TS trim adds alloy wheels, climate control, a leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio controls, electric rear windows and power folding mirrors.

Upgrade to TS2 and luxuries such as front foglights, larger alloy wheels, automatic headlights and wipers, a heated windscreen, heated front seats, cruise control and Bluetooth are included.

Sport models get 17-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, LED rear lights, a BOSE stereo and a pushbutton starter.

The high-performance MPS model – which has a 256bhp turbocharged 2.3-litre engine – tops the range at £21,500.

Both five-door hatchback and four-door saloon versions are available, although the saloon model range is smaller.

CO2 emissions range from 119g/km to 224g/km, while an engine start/stop system will be available on the 2.0 petrol Sport version from June 2009.
