New Renault Megane: full details - Introduction

09 September 2008
Renault says its new Megane will be a rival to the class-leading VW Golf when it goes on sale in November.

It will have to hit high standards, too, as company boss Carlos Ghosn wants every Renault to be rated in the top three of its class based on the quality of its products and service.

Renault says the new Megane has been styled to look sporty - although the radical derrier that spawned the current version's advertising campaign has been toned down - and has put a greater emphasis than ever on ensuring the car has a high-quality finish.

In particular, it says it has paid close attention to ensuring the gaps between body panels are reduced, and that the fit and finish of the interior materials is better than ever.

By 2010 there will be six different Megane models on sale, with three- and five-door models expected to be unveiled in the metal at the Paris motor show.
