Hyundai's new Santa Fe off-roader arrives in the UK next spring, offering more power, more space and more seats than the current car.
The new Santa Fe can seat up to seven people over three rows, instead of continuing today’s five-seat layout. A 2.7-litre, 186bhp, V6 petrol engine offers 16bhp more than the current unit, while a new 2.2-litre turbodiesel has 151bhp and 253 lb ft of pulling power against the 111bhp and 192 lb ft of the current 2.0-litre engine.
A 3.3-litre V6 petrol engine will also be offered to US buyers, but it hasn’t been confirmed for the UK.
Hyundai has fitted a new suspension layout at the rear of the car, which it claims will improve refinement and handling.
A permanent four-wheel-drive system automatically distributes power to the wheels with the most traction, but drivers will be able to select a 50:50 distribution for light off-road duties.
Full performance and specification details are yet to be announced, but we would expect the new Santa Fe to start at around £18,500 to £19,000.
Equipment levels are likely to be generous, with climate control, alloy wheels, a CD player, electric windows and door mirrors, remote central locking, power-adjustable pedals and automatic headlights and windscreen wipers standard.
The new model also has curtain as well as side airbags to offer protection across all three rows of seats.
Our reviews are based on hard data and thorough testing in the real world.
