The new Skoda Octavia vRS will go on sale in the summer, Skoda has confirmed.
A hatchback version will arrive first, followed by an estate, and there will be a choice of both petrol and diesel engines.
The petrol version will use the same 217bhp turbocharged engine as the forthcoming VW Golf GTI, and the diesel will probably be powered by the 178bhp 2.0 TDI from the latest Audi A3.
The new Octavia vRS will be available with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox. Skoda has taken this decision after being criticised for not offering the option of a manual gearbox with the smaller Fabia vRS.
Prices for the Octavia vRS have yet to be revealed, but expect it to start from around £23,000.
