The new Subaru Impreza hatchback will cost from £12,495 when it goes on sale next month.
The model range will be phased in, with the 1.5-litre R, 2.0-litre R and 2.0-litre RX on sale from September.
Limited numbers of the 2.5-litre WRX begin arriving in November and the 2.5-litre WRX STI hot hatch will arrive in spring 2008.
A diesel-powered Impreza is expected in 2009.
Engines and power
The 105bhp 1.5-litre car has a 0-60mph time of 13.7sec and has an average fuel consumption of 37.7mpg. It emits 176g/km of carbon dioxide.
147bhp 2.0-litre models can do the 0-60mph sprint in 9.2sec, record 33.6mpg, and emit 199g/km of carbon dioxide.
Cars with the 227bhp 2.5-litre unit have a 0-60mph time of 5.4sec and manage 27.2mpg. It emits 246g/km of carbon dioxide.
Equipment and trims
The 1.5R comes with 15-inch alloy wheels, climate control, electric windows, foglamps and six airbags as standard.
The 2.0R has 16-inch alloy wheels and additional equipment over the 1.5R, including stability control, windscreen wiper de-icers, xenon headlamps and heated door mirrors.
RX cars have additional front and rear spoilers, side skirts, a chrome cap for the exhaust, a rear bumper diffuser, 17-inch alloy wheels, stability control and a push-button starter.
The 2.5-litre WRX includes the RX's features as well as stability control, a leather-covered steering wheel and rear limited-slip differential.
Details of the WRX STI will be released closer to its launch.
