Subaru has revealed more details of its all-new Legacy.
Larger and more practical
The Legacy goes on sale in October – earlier than predicted – and it should be the most practical yet.
Longer and wider than the current car, the new Legacy's wheelbase (the distance between the front and rear wheels) will be 8cm longer, for more passenger room.
Cabin space will also be increased with 'revamped packaging providing new standards of comfort to all passengers'.
A rugged Outback model will be available, alongside the saloon and 'Sports Tourer' estate versions. The new Outback will get extra ground clearance and chunkier, SUV-style cosmetic tweaks.
Four-wheel drive as standard
Four-wheel drive will come as standard, along with a range of Subaru's 'boxer' engines.
Available engines are expected to be:
• 2.0-litre petrol
• 2.5-litre petrol
• 3.6-litre six-cylinder petrol
• 2.0-litre diesel
Subaru will display the new Legacy at the Frankfurt motor show in September. Full specifications and prices will be confirmed nearer to the on-sale date.
