New V6 engine for Lexus RX range

Lexus has boosted power and economy in its RX 4x4 range by replacing the 3.0-litre V6 engine with a new 3.5-litre V6.
The RX350's new engine produces 272bhp, almost 70bhp up on the outgoing model. That allows the RX to accelerate to 62mph in 7.8sec, 1.2sec faster than the 3.0-litre, while the electronically-limited top speed remains at 124mph.
It's also more economical than the old model - 25.2mpg in the combined cycle is an improvement of 8%.
Lexus has tweaked the RX's five-speed automatic transmission, while the power steering has also been altered to give greater assistance a low speed.
Other changes to the RX include greater soundproofing and a more sophisticated satellite-navigation system.
Prices for the RX350 start from £31,890, an increase of £1485 over the previous RX300.
