New Vauxhall Meriva and Saab 9-5 delayed

The cash crisis at General Motors could force it to delay the introduction of the new Saab 9-5 and Vauxhall Meriva.
Analysts say GM has cash reserves to survive only 12 months, and as a result the company is desperately trying to slash costs.
It has already cancelled its planned events at next week's Los Angeles motor show, and announced that it will delay the launch of the Cadillac CTS Coupe.
However, it now appears that the launch of European-bound cars such as the 9-5 and Meriva will be delayed until at least 2010.
Cars seen as vital to the company's future will still be launched next year, though, including the new Vauxhall Astra, which is due to be launched next winter.
