Volkswagen has added efficient Bluemotion Technology models to the Scirocco coupe and Passat CC family car ranges.

Priced from £21,500 in the Scirocco and £23,555 in the Passat CC ranges, the cars use a 2.0-litre 138bhp diesel engine and a battery of modifications to lower CO2 emissions and improve fuel economy.

The six-speed manual version of the Scirocco has the best figures with CO2 output of 118g/km – low enough for the cheapest company car tax band. Average fuel economy for this car is 62.8mpg.

The Passat CC manages CO2 emissions as low as 125g/km and fuel efficiency as high as 60.1mpg. A Bluemotion Technology Passat CC with a 168bhp engine is also available.

All cars come with six-speed manual gearbox or, as with a DSG automatic as a cost option.
