New York motor show 2010 - Infiniti QX56

01 April 2010
Global unveilings are relatively thin on the ground here at the New York motor show, but the Infiniti QX56 appears to be making up for that with its size.

The huge eight-seater is built on the Nissan Pathfinder platform, and is powered by a 396bhp 5.6-litre V8.

It's totally unapologetic in its approach to size and power, too – something that American commentators have picked up on.

Back to the past?
The cabin is luxurious, and the QX is loaded with every conceivable feature, but this really does seem like a car from a bygone era – even for the US.

It will cost from $56,700 (£37,000) when it goes on sale in the US this summer. There are no plans to bring the car to Europe.
