New York motor show 2010 - Mercedes-Benz R-Class

Mercedes has unleashed the plastic- and heart surgeons on the R-Class, with the results on display here at the New York show.

Most notable visual changes are at the front of the car, which has a new grille, headlights, bumper, wings and bonnet. The rear has also been reworked.

More powerful, but cleaner engines
Both the 300CDI and 350CDI diesel engines offer better performance, along with improved fuel consumption and lower emissions.

The 350CDI version of the 3.0-litre V6 records the most significant changes. Power is up from 221bhp to 261bhp – which slashes the 0-62mph time from 8.8 seconds to just 7.6 seconds.

Average fuel economy is 2.8mpg better at 33.2mpg, while emissions drop from 246g/km to 223g/km.

UK deliveries will start in September, with prices from around £40,000.
