The Suzuki Swift has been given a small series of upgrades for 2014. All models apart from the Swift Sport now offer LED daytime running lights and front foglights, while every version gets a gearshift indicator and a tyre-pressue monitor.
The top-level SZ4 trim also now comes with satellite-navigation and DAB digital radio as standard. The diesel version has also been dropped from the range, due to low sales. Suzuki will now only offer the 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.6-litre Sport versions. Prices start at £10,799, but Suzuki is running a no-VAT offer, which reduces the starting price to £8999.
Renault and Caterham
Renault has bought Caterham's share of the Alpine car company, increasing its share to 100%. The buyout brings to an end the agreement signed in November 2012, under which the two companies were to develop a sports car to be launched in 2016. As a result, Alpine's name will change from Societe des Automobiles Alpine Caterham to Societe des Automobiles Alpine.
Caterham has confirmed it intends to continue to develop its own sports car, while Alpine has restated its intention to launch its sports car in 2016.
