Next VW Polo GTI to get a manual gearbox

  • Hot version of the Polo to come with manual gearbox
  • Also offered with DSG automatic
  • On sale at the start of 2015

The face-lifted version of the Volkswagen Polo GTI will come with a manual gearbox, as well as the DSG automatic 'box offered on the current car. Until now the Polo GTI got just the DSG ’box.

VW has also confirmed that the next GTI will get a power boost over the outgoing model, from the current 177bhp to 189bhp. This is likely to bring a slight boost in performance and a marginal improvement over the current car's 6.9sec 0-62mph time.

The Polo GTI is also expected to benefit from adaptive damping for the first time, with the face-lifted car getting Sports and Comfort suspension modes.

The GTI will go on sale at the end of 2014, with the first cars set to be delivered at the start of 2015.
