This is the Nissan 370Z Nismo, a more focused version of the sports coupe that's designed to help boost the profile of the company’s performance division.

The 370Z Nismo, which will make its public debut at next month's Geneva motor show, gets a retuned version of the regular car's 3.7-litre V6 petrol engine. Its power output rises from 324bhp to 339bhp, and torque increases from 226lb ft to 231lb ft. As a result, the 370Z Nismo is a tenth of a second faster from 0-62mph, at 5.2 seconds.

Other mechanical changes include a Nismo-tuned chassis set-up that's designed to improve track performance, a revised brake system that includes the higher-performance fluids from the Nissan GT-R and an exclusive Nismo exhaust that's louder than the standard system.

The 370Z Nismo also gets styling tweaks, including a restyled front end that's designed to optimise the flow of air under the car. Nissan claims the increased downforce helps to improve stability at higher speeds. Other touches include dark grey Nismo 19-inch alloys, red brake calipers, wider tyres, a new rear spoiler and red pinstriping on the front, rear and side mirrors.

The cabin features an Alcantara and leather-trimmed steering wheel, sports seats with Nismo badging and a numbered plaque.

The 370Z Nismo is the second Nismo-fettled model to reach UK dealerships, following on from the Juke Nismo. Nissan is keen to raise the profile of its performance division, which enjoys a loyal following in Japan and the United States, but remains relatively unknown in Europe.

The new model is due on sale in June. Nissan hasn't confirmed prices, but we'd expect it to cost around the same as the current range-topping GT trim, at around £35,000.
