A teaser image of the Nissan Resonance concept car has been revealed ahead of its debut at the 2013 Detroit motor show.
The single sketch released shows the side profile of the car, with the lower half in shadow. The overall shape and window line appear similar to the current Nissan Murano's – the BMW X5-sized SUV that was dropped from Nissan's UK line-up in June 2011, but is still sold in the US.
No details of the car's dimensions or powertrain have been released, but Nissan says the Resonance is: 'The latest in a series of crossover designs from Nissan, fusing bold styling with a hybrid-electric powertrain.'
Although a production version of the Resonance isn't likely, it's expected to give a good idea of how the next Murano will look. Some of its design cues could also filter through to the next Qashqai and X-Trail models, which are both due on sale within the next 18 months.
