Nissan's electric dreams - Introduction

Nissan will have an electric car on sale in the UK by 2012 – and we have already driven the prototype on which it will be based.

Codenamed EV for 'electric vehicle', the prototype's drivetrain is being tested in Japan and America, where it will go on sale in 2010.

The test mule is a converted Nissan Cube, which is a supermini-sized vehicle currently only on sale in Japan.
