The S-Max is a big, long car, so it's good that Ford fits front and rear parking sensors as standard to every model.

I also spent £325 on a rear-view camera for a bit of extra help. The system's really good and has guidance lines that change shape as you turn the steering wheel to make parking a cinch.

As well as showing you the width of the car, there’s another line that shows where the driver is so you can line up perfectly.

Rear cameras can sometimes get misted up and covered in filth in bad weather, but I’ve found the S-Max's is nicely tucked out of the way and doesn't suffer from this too much.
