With the Audi A1 now gone, I needed a car for my week off. Happily, the i40 was free – and as I liked it so much the last time I drove it, I took it.

The 553-litre boot was more than big enough for the few bits and bobs I needed to pack away in the back, and the cubbyholes by the wheelarches were just the correct size for a couple of bottles of wine.

What I didn't get on with was the sat-nav: it didn't have a postcode entry option, and it didn't always list the roads in a particular area – even if they were relatively major thoroughfares.
