I contemplated taking the Picanto on a family trip to Scotland this week, but that idea fell at the first hurdle when I failed to fit my youngest daughter's buggy in the boot. It's harsh to criticise the Picanto's family-carrying abilities and 200-litre boot - it's a city car so it simply wasn't designed for long hauls with lots of luggage. Still, it would have been interesting if I could have got anywhere near its average 70mpg on an extended motorway drive. Took the train north instead.
