Our CX-7’s first service has come and gone in a flash. Our local dealer, MKG 3000 in Twickenham, Middlesex (020 8538 9377), finished the job by mid-afternoon, which is the least you can expect for £258.88. At least the freshly cleaned paintwork showed off the CX-7’s striking lines a treat.

Having collected the car, I noticed that the Ad Blue indicator had returned to full. Ad Blue reduces the car’s harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions. It’s stored in a tank below the boot, from where it is sprayed directly into the exhaust to purify NOx through a chemical reaction.
