It's always hard to decide which optional extras to add to your car. Will they be as useful as you think? Will they be worth the money? I’m glad I went for the 3008’s glass roof, but the sat-nav hasn’t been quite such a good buy.

The £360 panoramic glass roof is great. It makes the cabin light and airy, and goes all the way back over rear passengers’ heads. A friend’s eight-month-old daughter certainly seemed to enjoy looking up at something more interesting than some grey headlining. With its one-touch electric blind, the glass roof is a must-have option.

If only the sat-nav was as good. At £735, the Peugeot Connect Navigation is pretty cheap for a built-in system, but it seems to have a big problem with traffic information. It often tells me about a jam only as I reach the back of the queue.

Other times it offers to find an alternative route, but if I press the ‘no’ button and stay on the current road, the sat-nav covers the screen with a message asking if I wouldn’t rather take the new route. So I press ‘no’ again, so the system asks if I’m sure, and so it goes back and forth for another few cycles – distracting and frustrating in equal measure.

At least the system is good at finding most addresses, despite not having full postcode input.
