The 3008’s split tailgate is a great feature. I can open just the top half to load something small or light and, because it’s shorter than a one-piece tailgate, I can get to the boot in the tightest of parking spaces. Then I simply pull a lever and the bottom half folds down for a bigger opening. An added bonus is the perch this creates – perfect for sitting on while changing shoes, and it even doubles as a handy viewing platform.

There’s more good news. The Goodyear Optigrip tyres fitted last month (replacing the original Michelins) are fantastic in the wet.
