You’d think two people going away for just one week would be able to travel fairly light, wouldn’t you? Not us. We packed clothes for every climatic eventuality and took enough food to keep us going just in case the Isle of Wight became cut off from the rest of mankind. Thankfully, the Golf’s boot was more than big enough for our stuff, so off we headed for Southampton.

After a quick and smooth crossing to East Cowes with Red Funnel Ferries the Golf provided quick and nimble transport on the island. Best of all, it got through the whole week on one tank of diesel.
