Paris motor show report - Volvo S60 and V60 R Design

29 September 2010
Volvo has just unveiled new, sportier R Design versions of its S60 saloon and V60 estate here at the Paris motor show.

What is it?
Available with every engine from the two ranges – from the 161bhp D3 diesel to the 300bhp T6 petrol – R Design models get sportier dynamics and styling.

A stiffened body, faster-reacting shock absorbers and harder springs are designed to make the car more responsive and fun to drive.

Outside, the cars have more aggressive bodywork, unique 18-inch wheels and a rear diffuser, while the cabin gets a special steering wheel, gearlever, sports pedals and floor mats.

Inside, there’s a choice of either a black-and-white colour scheme or an all-black option, with contrasting stitching.

The price
Volvo says R Design models will cost slightly more than SE versions, which suggests a starting price of about £26,000 for the D3 S60. Cars are available to order now, although first deliveries aren't expected until the end of the year.
