The Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary special edition has been revealed at Goodwood today. The edition pays homage to the iconic 205 GTi original launched back in 1984.
The 208 GTi 30th receives a host of upgrades, including a new Euro6 compliant 1.6-litre THP petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and a special Torsen differential.
Power is up by 8bhp over the current 208 GTi to 205bhp which results in a 0-62mph time of 6.5 seconds.
Peugeot has sharpened the steering and tweaked the suspension to cope with the extra performance, including a 10mm reduction in ride height. Larger 18-inch wheels with grippier Michelin tyres have also been fitted.
This limited edition model is available in a choice of three paint schemes - a dramatic black and red two-tone paint finish, plus white or red. It also gets matt black wheels with red four-pot Brembo brake calipers, twin chrome exhaust tail pipes and 208 GTi 30th logos.
Inside the sporty theme continues with special Peugeot Sport bucket seats trimmed in Alcantara with contrasting red stitching, red seatbelts and red floor mats.
As well as running at Goodwood, the 208 GTi 30th Anniversary will also be shown at the Paris motor show in October, before sales begin in November. So far there has been no word on pricing, but the standard car costs £18,895.
