The 2014 version of the Peugeot 308 will cost from £14,495 when it goes on sale early next year.

The hatchback will come in four trim levels and with a choice of five engines from launch. CO2 emissions will start from as low as 95g/km, although an 82g/km diesel will follow next year.

Access, Active, Allure and Feline are the four trims on offer; the range will kick off with the £14,495 Access model. This comes with DAB digital radio, USB connection, Bluetooth, air-conditioning, remote central locking, front electric windows, cruise control and colour-coded door mirrors and handles.

Stepping up to Active, which starts at £17,195, adds 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, an electric handbrake, a 9.7-inch colour touch-screen, satellite-navigation, auto headlights and wipers, a leather steering wheel and gearlever, and rear parking sensors.

Allure, from £18,595, brings larger, 17-inch alloys, a reversing camera and front parking sensors, and electric folding mirrors. Range-topping Feline starts at £20,995 and adds keyless entry and start, dynamic cruise control, emergency collision alert and braking system, a panoramic glass roof, Alcantara seats and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The 308 will arrive with a choice of three petrol and two diesel engines, an 82bhp 1.2 VTI, a 125bhp 1.6 THP and 156bhp 1.6 THP. The initial diesels are a 92bhp 1.6 HDI, which is the model with the 95g/km emissions, and a 115bhp 1.6 HDI.

The 1.6 BlueHDI diesel engine will join the range from March 2014, and will be the most economical model, with predicted CO2 emissions of 82g/km and a claimed fuel economy of 91.1mpg.

The Peugeot 308 is available to order now, with deliveries starting in January 2014.
