Jaguars are consistently among the best-handling cars of their kind, with the firm’s model range encompassing the XE, XF and XJ saloons, the F-Type sports cars and multiple SUVs.

Jaguar was actually relatively late to launch its first SUV, the F-Pace, but it quickly followed it up with the smaller E-Pace and the all-electric I-Pace.

That SUV range will keep growing, too, with larger and more luxurious SUVs planned to take on the Porsche Cayenne and the Range Rover from sister brand Land Rover.

Jaguar has launched a high-performance XF for police use. The police pursuit car is based upon the 271bhp 3.0D S V6, which can hit 60mph in just 5.9 seconds, but still returns 42mpg and emits just 179g/km of carbon dioxide. Geoff Cousins, UK managing director for Jaguar Cars, said: Police forces are looking for vehicles that represent value for money, have good environmental credentials and deliver the power and performance required of a pursuit vehicle.

Police forces up and down the country are currently evaluating the car.
