These are the first images of the Porsche Roxter, a small 4x4 that Porsche bosses are still evaluating whether to put into production.

The computer-generated pictures show how the car could look.

It is based on Audi's Q5, which goes on sale in mid-2008, and would rival BMW's X3 in the marketplace.

As the car remains at least two years from going on sale, no engine or pricing details have been discussed.

However, insiders claim the Roxster name has been given the go-ahead and has been copyrighted by Porsche.
