Power pack boosts Subaru's punch

05 April 2006

Extra performance and acceleration is now available on a range of Subarus.

New 'Prodrive-developed Performance Packs' (PPP) boost the output of Impreza and Forester models by as much as 39bhp. All are priced at £1700.

The WRX STI PPP is 38bhp more powerful at 316bhp, enough to drop it the 0-60mph sprint down to 4.8 seconds.

Other models have bigger drops in 0-60mph times, the Impreza WRX PPP taking 5.3sec instead of 5.9sec, thanks to its 39bhp increase in power to 266bhp.

The Forester XT has a 29bhp hike to 256bhp, which means it can match this Impreza off the line to 60mph.

The added power and low-down pull provided by the packs are achieved with a re-programmed electronic control unit and replacement of the standard catalytic converter with a high-flow design and sports silencer. The WRX STI also gets a high-flow fuel pump.
