New Chinese car maker Qoros will not initially have any right-hand-drive or diesel-powered models in its range – ruling out UK sales when it launches in September.

Speaking to What Car?, the company's sales and marketing boss, Stefano Villanti, said that investment for right-hand-drive models has yet to be signed off, although he did confirm that it was part of the firm's ongoing plan. UK cars could arrive within two years.

Qoros will start its European sales with the 3 saloon – shown for the first time at the Geneva motor show – which costs from around £17,000. Villanti revealed that Qoros will then be launching a new model every six to 12 months, including a hatchback and an SUV, which is also on show in Geneva in concept form.

In total, the company plans to put 'five or six' models on sale using the same architecture. A supermini is also under consideration.
