Range Rover Evoque: the story so far - Prices and specs

The Range Rover Evoque will cost from £28,705 when it goes on sale in September, although a two-wheel-drive version will start from £27,995 when it arrives in 2012.

There are three trims – Pure, Prestige and Dynamic – and three engines: 2.2-litre turbodiesels with 148bhp or 187bhp and a 237bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

It's available in three- and five-door forms, with the three-door 'Coupe' version costing £1000 more than the five-door.

The sub-£28k model is an eD4 148bhp, two-wheel drive Pure version, which won't be on sale until next year. The range tops out with the £44,320 237bhp Dynamic version, with Range Rover's Lux pack, six-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive.

• Adaptive Dynamics with Magnaride - iron filings in the shock absorber fluid change their positioning when an electrical current is applied or removed to make the suspension stiffer or softer.

There are a couple of optional packs. Pure versions can get a £1900 Tech pack which comes with:
