Car buyers save an average £1350 on the cost of their new car by shopping around and following the What Car? Target Price but sometimes we hear from a reader who has managed to get an impressive deal on a car that beats our best efforts.

Andrew Boden had decided to buy a Citroen C4 VTS Coupe and visited Belmont Citroen in Stirling. He told What Car?: 'The list price was £18,445 including metallic paint, but after some haggling I got the colour I was looking for £13,345. I saved a total of £5100 off the list price, and even got a set of mats thrown in.'
