Renault has released prices and specification for its new, mock-4x4 Scenic Conquest.
The car has 4x4 styling but without four-wheel drive, and initially has a choice of two engines - a 118bhp 1.9-litre diesel model which costs £19,135 and a 134bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine costing £17,945. Two other engines will be added in September.
Diesel models manage an average fuel consumption of 47.1mpg and petrol models 35.3mpg.
To appeal to buyers with outdoor lifestyles, the car is intended to look like a 4x4, with black graphite coatings on the lower part of the bumpers, revised radiator grille and air intake, metal skidplates on the rear bumper and chunky rubbing strips on the sides.
There are no off-road mechanicals, though, as the car retains the two-wheel-drive layout of standard Scenics. However, the car has a ride height increased by 20mm and modified suspension to improve comfort on rough terrain.
In the cabin, there's an orange theme throughout, with orange graphics on the centre console and orange stitching on the steering wheel upholstery, seatbelts, and gear lever gaiter. Rubber floor mats also have a Conquest logo.
Standard equipment is higher than the Dynamique cars the Conquest is based on - as well as everything found in these cars, Conquests have ESP (electronic stability programme), roof bars and rear parking sensors. Air-conditioning, all-round electric windows, leather steering wheel and gearknob and 16-inch alloy wheels are all standard.
