Renault revises Twingo range

30 March 2010

The Renault Twingo range has been revised with new trims, a new engine and lower prices and emissions on some models.

New entry-level trim
Expression replaces Freeway as the entry-level trim, with new upholstery and a slightly higher list price of £7695.

Revised engine cleans up
The Expression model retains the existing 59bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine, but the next two models up get a revised version of the 74bhp 1.2 16v engine.

The updated engine now emits just 119g/km of CO2 – a 16g/km reduction – and averages 55.4mpg, an improvement of almost 12%.

I-Music trim
At £8695, the I-Music is almost £600 cheaper than the less well-equipped Extreme model it replaces, and gets a sports front bumper, aluminium-effect door mirrors and front foglights, as well as Bluetooth connectivity.

Dynamique trim
The £9695 Dynamique model adds alloy wheels, air-conditioning, sliding and folding rear seats, a height-adjustable driver’s seat and side airbags.

Emissions and prices cut
Higher up the range, the GT’s engine now emits just 132g/km of CO2 – a 6g/km reduction – while its price has dropped by more than £400 to £10,695 – despite having an upgraded stereo and Bluetooth.

The two Renaultsport models now emit 5g/km less CO2.

The full range is available to order now, with the first deliveries expected in May.
