Renault's Clio supermini now comes with a new 1.2 turbocharged petrol engine.
The company claims the 1.2 Turbo 100 TCE engine combines the pulling power of its 111bhp 1.6 engine with the economy of the 1.2 non-turbo engine.
Renault says the 1.2 Turbo 100 TCE averages 47.9mpg and can go from zero to 62mph in 11.1sec and on to a top speed of 114mph.
This compares with the 10.2sec 0-60mph dash and 118mph top speed of the 1.6 and the 47.9mpg of the non-turbo 1.2.
Prices start at £10,525 for a three-door Expression 1.2 Turbo 100 TCE, rising to £12,445 for the five-door Privilege model.
The new engine will also be available for the Modus, with the Expression model costing £10,510 and the Dynamique S at £11,155.
