This is how the Renault Twingo could look when it goes on sale in September

Renault has shown a concept version of its new Twingo city car, but these computer images show what the production car will look like.

Renault says it wants to make the car more upmarket than before, and sportier, too. Even so, as our picture shows, styling is likely to be toned down from the concept unveiled at the Paris motor show last year.

Details of all the engines that will be available haven’t been announced, but the turbocharged 1.2-litre unit developing 100bhp found in the concept car will certainly be used. The engine will also be available in the Clio and Modus this year.

Price and specification details for the Twingo are also still to be confirmed, but we'd expect the range to start at around £7500, when it goes on sale in September.
