These are the first official pictures of the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe, which will go on display for the first time at the Geneva motor show in March.

It goes on sale this summer at £298,000, and joins the Phantom and Phantom Drophead Coupe in the range.

A car for drivers
Power is provided by a 453bhp 6.75-litre V12 engine, which delivers 75% of its power at 1000rpm. It gives the car a limited top speed of 155mph and a 0-60mph time of 5.6sec.

The Coupe has the stiffest chassis in the Phantom range, as well as a revised suspension set-up, backing Rolls-Royce's claim that it is the most driver-oriented model of the three.

As is customary for Rolls-Royces, the Phantom Coupe is constructed by hand, with tolerances of just 0.1mm allowed between each panel, the majority of which are made from weight-saving aluminium.

Safety equipment includes intelligent braking and stability control, traction control, seatbelt pre-tensioners and six airbags.

Inside the car
Luxury is the watchword, with Rolls-Royce proudly saying that the driver and passenger will only be able to touch leather, wood or chrome as they reach around the car.

A multimedia screen is hidden behind an analogue clock and only becomes visible when required, while a 6-CD changer is controlled via a single dial.

The rear seat is designed to be like a sofa, while an optional roof-mounted LED light system that uses hundreds of fibre-optics gives the impression of a star-filled sky.

The comfort factor
As befits a car of the Phantom Coupe's stature, there are several design innovations to aid comfort.

The doors are rear-hinged to help passengers get into the back, and these doors can be opened and closed electronically.

There is also a picnic boot, which lowers to provide seating for two and allows access to a 395-litre luggage compartment.

There are even front- and rear-facing cameras to aid visibility.

The standard 21-inch wheels are available in three styles. Buyers can also choose from nine standard colours or 44,000 colour variants that can be mixed as part of the Bespoke programme that allows buyers to personalise their car.
